Virgin Voyages Sailing Club: Blue Extras, Deep Blue Extras, and How the Loyalty Tiers Work

Virgin Voyages doesn't run a points program like most cruise lines. Its loyalty program, the Sailing Club, is built around how many voyages you've completed, and it unlocks two perk levels: Blue Extras and Deep Blue Extras. Here's how each tier works, what you get, which sailings count, and the fine print to know.

Details in this guide reflect Virgin's Sailing Club terms as of October 2026 and are subject to change.

Cheers to coming back: every voyage brings you closer to Blue Extras and Deep Blue Extras.

How the Sailing Club Works

Your tier is based on the number of completed eligible voyages, not nights. A 4-night sailing counts the same as a 14-night sailing.

  • Sailing Club: you're in after your first completed eligible voyage.

  • Blue Extras: unlocked after 2 completed voyages. The perks apply on your 3rd and 4th voyages.

  • Deep Blue Extras: unlocked after 4 completed voyages. The perks apply from your 5th voyage on.

Credit for a voyage posts about 30 days after you sail, so a sailing you just finished may not show up right away.

Blue Extras Perks

  • Dedicated Sailing Club Sailor Services

  • An invite to a Sailing Club cocktail event (one per voyage, and your cabin mate can join you)

  • One laundry bag per voyage (no express service, and not on the last day)

  • One specialty coffee per day (excludes Ship Eats and coffee drinks with alcohol)

Deep Blue Extras Perks

  • $100 promotional Bar Tab per voyage. See Virgin Voyages Bar Tab Explained.

  • Unlimited premium Wi-Fi

  • Priority boarding (your cabin mate can join you if you arrive together)

  • Dedicated Sailing Club Sailor Services, including a pre-voyage phone option

  • An invite to the Sailing Club cocktail event

  • Laundry: two pressed items, one specialty-cleaned item, and one laundry bag

  • Two specialty coffees per day

Charges for these perks are waived from your onboard account before your card is charged at the end of the voyage, so you don't need to do anything to claim them.

How Long the Perks Last

Virgin has extended Blue Extras and Deep Blue Extras through 2028, the third time it has pushed the date out. Virgin can change the program, so I always confirm current perks before you sail.

Which Voyages Count

Since October 7, 2025, voyages booked on a Base, Essential, or Premium fare count toward your tier. See Virgin Voyages Fare Types Explained.

These don't count, and you also lose your earned perks on these voyages:

  • Casino offers

  • Free sailings from access keys

  • Travel agent rates

  • Interline, reduced, and employee fares

  • Some internal and companion bookings

Back-to-Back Sailings

If you book back-to-back voyages, you won't jump to the next tier's perks on the second leg, even if the first leg completes the voyages you need. The new tier kicks in on your next separate sailing.

Sea-Blazers and Sea-Rovers

If you sailed Virgin early and earned Sea-Blazer or Sea-Rover status before January 1, 2024, you already have Deep Blue Extras unlocked. These early sailors also get a bonus when they buy a Bar Tab:

  • Sea-Blazers: a $125 bonus on a $300 Bar Tab purchase

  • Sea-Rovers: a $100 bonus on a $300 Bar Tab purchase

My Bar Tab Calculator factors in these bonuses, so you can see which tab gives you the most.

Status Match: Skip Ahead to Blue Extras

New to Virgin but loyal to another cruise line, airline, or hotel? Virgin's 2026 Status Match lets you start at Blue Extras on your first voyage. Applications are open through October 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET, and you have to book by then with the single-use code Virgin sends you. It's for new bookings only, for the primary sailor, on one sailing. See Virgin Voyages Status Match: October 2026 for the full list of programs and how to apply.

Booking With a First Mate Still Counts

Booking through a First Mate doesn't affect your tier. As long as your sailing is on an eligible fare, your voyage counts the same as booking direct, and your perks apply the same way. The only travel agent bookings that don't count are agent rates for an agent's own travel.
