If you're already onboard a Virgin Voyages sailing and know you'll want to come back, My Next Virgin Voyage (often called MNVV) is one of the best deals Virgin offers. You put down a small deposit onboard, and you get a fare discount plus Sailor Loot on a future sailing. Here's how it works, what you get, and the fine print, including the recent changes to transfers and name changes.
Details in this guide reflect Virgin's MNVV terms as of October 2026 and are subject to change.
Already dreaming about the next one? My Next Virgin Voyage lets you lock in savings before you even leave the ship.
What Is My Next Virgin Voyage?
My Next Virgin Voyage is an onboard-only offer for sailors who want to book another Virgin sailing. There are two ways to do it:
Pay a $150 placeholder deposit now and choose your sailing later. The deposit goes toward your future booking.
Book a specific sailing onboard by choosing your ship and date and paying a 20% deposit.
The placeholder is the most popular option, since you don't have to decide on dates while you're on vacation.
What You Get
The value depends on the length of the sailing you book:
4 to 5 nights: $150 off your fare plus $150 in Sailor Loot ($300 total)
6 to 8 nights: $200 off your fare plus $200 in Sailor Loot ($400 total)
9+ nights: $250 off your fare plus $250 in Sailor Loot ($500 total)
A few things to know:
Sailings under 4 nights don't qualify.
The discount comes off your fare before taxes and fees.
The value updates automatically if you later book a longer or shorter sailing.
The Sailor Loot is only good on that sailing. It doesn't carry over to a back-to-back sailing, and unused Loot has no cash value. You can use it for drinks, the spa, shopping, Shore Things booked onboard, and the casino. See How to Use Your Virgin Voyages Sailor Loot.
How to Buy It
Onboard only. You have to be on a Virgin ship to buy it, and you have to buy it before you get off.
Where: the Future Voyages desk on Deck 7, through the sales team onboard, or online while you're sailing
How to pay: a personal credit or debit card. Corporate cards, Future Voyage Credits, and Sailor Loot can't be used.
Limit: up to four placeholders per sailor, each with its own $150 deposit. Only one can be used per booking.
New bookings only. You can't add an MNVV to a sailing you've already booked.
How Long You Have to Use It
You have two years from your purchase date to turn your placeholder into a booking, and you can use it on any open voyage, no matter how far out it sails. That includes sailings Virgin hasn't announced yet, once they open. This applies to every MNVV, new and existing.
Virgin had announced in August that this window would shrink to one year, but in October 2026 it decided to keep it at two years.
Once you turn a placeholder into a booking with a sail date, it can't go back to being a placeholder. When you're ready to book, reach out and I'll help you pick the right sailing and cabin.
Which Cabins Qualify
Eligible:
Sea Terrace and higher, including Central Sea Terrace and XL Sea Terrace
RockStar Quarters and Mega RockStar Quarters
Not eligible:
Insider cabins
Sea View cabins
Limited View Sea Terrace
Lock It In rates
Full-ship charter sailings
You can upgrade to a higher category if it's available, but you can't move down to an ineligible cabin.
Changing Your Sail Date
You get one date change, and only on an Essential or Premium fare. Base fares can't change dates. The new date has to be within one year of your original date.
Can You Transfer an MNVV to Someone Else?
This is where Virgin made the biggest changes in 2026.
Placeholders bought on or after August 6, 2026 aren't transferable. The person who buys the placeholder has to stay on the booking.
Name changes on the booking depend on your fare. Once your placeholder is booked with a sail date on a Premium fare, name changes are allowed. Once you choose Premium, you can't switch down to Essential or Base.
Placeholders bought before August 6, 2026 follow the terms in place when you bought them, which may be more flexible. If you have an older placeholder, contact me and I'll check what your terms allow.
Placeholders can't be resold. Virgin voids resold placeholders, and they aren't refundable.
The bottom line: treat an MNVV as yours. If you're buying one hoping to gift it or hand it off to a friend, it likely won't work under the current rules.
Can You Combine It With Other Offers?
Often, yes. MNVV can be combined with most public promotions. It can't be combined with deeply discounted rates, like Lock It In, casino, and sweepstakes rates.
Cancellation Rules
Within 7 days of buying: you get your full $150 back.
After 7 days: your deposit becomes a Future Voyage Credit, good for one year, but you lose the fare discount and Sailor Loot.
Not turned into a booking within two years: you lose the deposit, the discount, and the Sailor Loot.
Using MNVV With a First Mate
If you booked your current sailing through a First Mate, we stay linked to your MNVV booking. That means you still get all the same perks of booking with me, like:
Choosing your exact cabin on Base, Essential, and Premium fares
Stacking every promotion you qualify for on top of your MNVV value
Watching for price drops after you book
So if you're onboard and thinking about your next trip, grab the placeholder, then reach out when you're home and I'll help you pick the sailing and cabin.
Is MNVV Worth It?
If you're likely to book another Virgin sailing within the next two years, yes. For $150 down, which goes toward your booking, you get up to $500 in total value, plus the flexibility to pick your dates later. The main things to watch:
Book it within two years, or you lose the deposit.
Book an eligible cabin. Insider, Sea View, Limited View, and Lock It In don't qualify.
Plan to use it yourself. New placeholders aren't transferable.
Decide within 7 days if you might want your money back.
