Virgin Voyages Miami Port Guide: Terminal V, Parking, and Things to Do

Miami is Virgin Voyages' home port, and it's where a lot of sailors take their first Virgin voyage. Virgin sails from its own terminal at PortMiami, called Terminal V, with sailings to The Beach Club at Bimini and across the Caribbean. Here's everything you need to know about getting there, parking, check-in, and making the most of your time in Miami.

Prices and details in this guide are current as of October 2026 and are subject to change.

Terminal V at a Glance

  • Address: PortMiami, Terminal V, 718 N Cruise Blvd, Miami, FL 33132

  • Closest parking: Garage G, right next to the terminal

  • Luggage drop-off: starts at 9 AM

  • Boarding: based on the arrival time you choose in the Virgin Voyages app

Terminal V is one of the nicest cruise terminals in the country. It's a modern, light-filled building on the water, with views of Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline. It's built just for Virgin, so check-in is usually fast.

Getting to the Port

From Miami International Airport (MIA)

MIA is about 8 to 10 miles from PortMiami, roughly 15 to 30 minutes by car depending on traffic. Uber, Lyft, and taxis are the easiest options.

From Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL)

FLL is about 27 to 30 miles away, so plan on 45 to 60 minutes or more. Flights into FLL are sometimes cheaper, but leave extra time for I-95 traffic.

Rideshare and drop-off

Rideshare drop-off at the port can back up on busy cruise days, especially when several ships are in port. Give yourself a buffer, and have a backup plan if you're cutting it close.

Parking at Terminal V

Garage G is the closest garage to Terminal V. As of October 2026, PortMiami parking runs about $25 per day. Rates change, so check the current price before you go.

A few things to know:

  • You pay when you leave.

  • Bring a credit card. Debit cards aren't always accepted.

  • Off-site lots and park-and-stay hotels can be cheaper for longer sailings. Many include a shuttle to the port.

How Check-In Works

  1. Complete check-in in the Virgin Voyages app. You'll upload your photo, add your documents, and choose your terminal arrival time.

  2. Drop your bags. Luggage drop-off opens at 9 AM. If you drop bags early, come back no earlier than 15 minutes before your arrival time.

  3. Arrive at your time slot. Getting there early won't get you in early, and there's no seating outside the terminal.

  4. Pick up your Band. You'll get your wearable room key at check-in. See Virgin Voyages' The Band.

  5. Clear security and board.

Tip: Pack a carry-on with your swimsuit, sunscreen, medications, and anything you need that first afternoon. Checked bags usually show up at your cabin later in the day.

Porters: The curbside porters are port workers, not Virgin crew. Tipping $1 to $2 per bag is standard.

Fly In the Day Before

If you're flying in, arrive in Miami the day before your sailing. Flight delays happen, and the ship won't wait. A night in Miami also gives you time to enjoy the city before you board.

Where to stay

  • Downtown and Brickell: closest to the port, with lots of hotels, restaurants, and rooftop bars

  • South Beach: about 15 to 20 minutes from the port, and the classic Miami beach experience

Things to Do in Miami Before or After Your Cruise

  • South Beach and Ocean Drive: Art Deco buildings, people watching, and a classic Miami beach day

  • Wynwood Walls: outdoor street art, galleries, breweries, and some of the city's best restaurants

  • Little Havana: Cuban coffee, cigars, live music, and Calle Ocho

  • Bayside Marketplace: shops, restaurants, and boat tours right by the port, easy for a short stop

  • Vizcaya Museum and Gardens: a historic waterfront estate with beautiful formal gardens

  • Brickell: rooftop bars and dinner with skyline views

If you're short on time, Bayside and Downtown are closest to the port. If you have a full day, Wynwood and South Beach are worth the trip.

Where You Can Sail From Miami

Virgin's Miami sailings mostly head to the Bahamas and the Caribbean, including:

Ships and itineraries change by season, so check current sailings for your dates.

Prefer to sail from Puerto Rico? Virgin also runs Southern Caribbean sailings from San Juan. See my Virgin Voyages San Juan Port Guide.

Disembarkation Day Tips

  • Book a flight after noon. That gives you time to get off the ship, through customs, and to the airport.

  • Use self-carry if you can carry your own bags. It's usually the fastest way off.

  • Have your ID and travel documents ready. You'll clear U.S. customs at the terminal. See Do You Need a Passport for a Cruise?
