Picking a cabin is one of the biggest decisions you'll make when booking Virgin Voyages, and the category names don't make it easy. Here's a plain-English breakdown of every option, plus how to choose the right one for your trip.
The Five Cabin Categories
Insider
Virgin's interior cabin, with no window. It's the most affordable way onto the ship and a smart pick if you plan to spend your days at the pool, in port, and out late at the bars. Virgin also offers Solo Insider cabins built for one person, with no single supplement.
Sea View
Everything in an Insider, plus a porthole or window and natural light. A good middle ground if you want daylight without paying for a balcony.
Sea Terrace
Virgin's balcony cabin and the most popular choice on board. Nearly every Sea Terrace comes with a private terrace and the signature red hammock. There are several versions:
Central Sea Terrace sits midship for a smoother ride.
XL Sea Terrace gives you a bigger outdoor space.
Limited View Sea Terrace is the cheapest way to get a balcony, but lifeboats partly block the view.
RockStar Quarters
Virgin's suites. On top of more space and a bigger terrace, you get a dedicated RockStar Agent to handle reservations and requests, plus access to Richard's Rooftop, a private sundeck and bar for suite guests.
Mega RockStar Quarters
The top tier. The largest suites on the ship with the most generous perks, including a bottomless in-room bar.
Which Cabin Is Right for You?
First-time Sailors and most couples: Sea Terrace. It's the best balance of space, price, and that hammock-on-the-ocean experience Virgin is known for.
Budget travelers who live outside the room: Insider. You'll barely be in it anyway.
Solo Sailors: Solo Insider. You avoid the single supplement other cruise lines charge.
Celebrations and anyone who wants things handled: RockStar Quarters. The RockStar Agent alone takes a lot of planning off your plate.
Tips for Choosing Your Exact Cabin
Category is only half the decision. Where your cabin sits on the ship matters just as much.
Prone to seasickness? Go midship on a lower to middle deck. That's where you'll feel the least motion.
Light sleeper? Check what's directly above and below your cabin. Cabins under the pool deck, the gym, or busy venues can pick up noise.
Want the best value balcony? A standard Sea Terrace midship on a middle deck is the sweet spot for quiet, views, and a calm ride.
Why Book Your Cabin Through a First Mate
When you book on Virgin's website, you pick a category and Virgin assigns your cabin number. When you book through a First Mate, I can select your specific cabin, so you know exactly where you'll be sleeping before you sail. You pay the same fare either way.
